Network Cable Tester
- Construct your own patch cables? Test them with this!
- Tests Twisted-Pair Straight & Crossover Cables: RJ-45 & RJ-11
- Requires one 9-volt battery (not included)
- Tester detects if wires are connected correctly
- Includes cloth travel case & instruction sheet
Not sure what’s wrong with your network? Before you buy an expensive replacement router or cable modem, test your cables!
If the wires are broken (and you know how those cables get snaked around the house) the tester will detect it. If you make your own patch cables and want to test that the wires are correctly assigned, then you need this!
Test your twisted pair, Straight, Crossover, Cat 5 / Cat 5e / Cat 6 / UTP cables with RJ-11 or RJ-45 connectors.
Insert the battery, turn on the tester, and connect one end of the cable to the Master side and the other end to the Remote side. The lights indicate problems (if any) with wires in the cables.
A very useful item for the networking enthusiast!

Simple, effective, cheap,
A simple & cheap device, its construction quality is consistent with its price, but it performs its job fairly well. Hook both ends of any standard network cable (RJ45) or phone cable (RJ11), and the tester will verify continuity and sequence of each conductor within the cable. Useful for identifying damaged cables, or cables that may have been wired in a non-standard or alternate fashion (e.g., crossover cables).

|did the job for the price,
definitely cant beat this price for a cable tester. also one of the easiest things i ever used. if you looking for a super high quality tester get away from this page immediately, but for the price it did its job well. i only had to test a few runs in my house and office. if all the lights light up you have solid connections on the pins. great product if you setting up a small network with custom wires, also a must have tool when making custom wires.

|Sets new low bar for cheap, flimsy, yet working,
To call this item cheaply made is to insult cheaply made products. Comes without a battery of course, so I pressed my thumb on the battery cover to slide it off and the battery cover shattered into three pieces. The on-off switch slides very hard, it is binding against something. But it does test a cable. I don’t know how long it will last, but I only need to test a couple of cables and then I can untape the battery (it costs more than the tester) and dump this device in the trash. For $3.25 I expected … well, I expected to test a few cables. So I’m satisfied.
Oh yeah, please remember, according to the instructions: “Test cannot be done while RJ45′s copper screezers are not totally pressed.” For the sake of your children, don’t forget to press the screezers!
