The ESSENTIAL desk reference for those who work at home., March 19, 1999
    By A Customer
This review is from: Working from Home (Paperback)

Several years ago, when it looked like my dream of working from my home could become reality, I picked up this book. (Then in its third edition.) It became my instruction manual for making the transition from small cubicle in a very large office building to a large (bedroom sized) office in my smallish home. Everything you need is there, from the philosophical (how do I live and work under the same roof?) to the practical (do I need a variance in my community), from the business of business (how do I attract business?), to the work of work (how do I organize all this clutter?). Its like a friendly office manager that knows everything. The fourth edition is technologically updated, and every bit as helpful. Even now that my business is somewhat established, I find the book especially useful as a first-place-to-look-reference for “do I need to worry about this” type questions.

There are only two pieces of advise I can give those of you contemplating working from home: spend all your money on a comfortable office chair, and buy this book.

If you want an all-in-one comprehensive work at home reference this is the book to buy. It contains useful information necessary for beginning and experience home workers. Almost everything you must consider before starting or operating your own self-employment venture is included. Covers topics such as marketing, finance, insurance, taxes, legal matters, motivation, organization, setting goals, time management, psychology, equipment and family considerations. Includes checklists, worksheets, diagrams, money saving tips, resources and interviews of people who work at home for a living. I thought this book was easy to read and understand. I can see why Paul and Sarah Edwards are considered experts on the subject of working from home.

Outstanding Book for Anyone Wanting to Work From Home!, October 27, 1997
    By A Customer
This review is from: Working from Home (Paperback)

Although there weren’t as many individual business ideas in this book as I had hoped, this book was an amazing addition to my library. It helped me understand everything from the legal aspects of starting a business, to finding financing to setting up my office. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is just starting out in a home based business or who is bringing their work home from the office!

No-nonsense book of valuable resources for working at home, December 29, 2009

I’ve been a long-time fan of the authors’ website, the RatRaceRebellion, and when I had an opportunity to read their newest book, I jumped on it. I’ve read lots of “work at home” books, and they all said basically the same things. Durst’s and Haaren’s new book doesn’t dwell on the same old things that are in the other books; instead, it jumps right to the heart of what all new home-based workers want to know – where to find work. Not only do the authors list a multitude of websites offering work-at-home opportunities, they’ve checked out every one of the websites, plus they’ve organized the listing into job types (they’ve included categories such as “merchandiser” and “notary” that are more “work FROM home). They’ve even included a category of websites for work in the “adult” industry (if you’re so inclined)!
The authors have also done a great job showing readers how to do effective Google and Craigslist searches for work, and they tell what to look for in order to avoid scams.
All in all, this is a very well-written and extremely well-organized book about how to find a good home-based job and avoid all the scams out there. I highly recommend it!

I won this book in a drawing. I was planning to buy it anyways because it is written by two very experienced authors. Christine Durst and Michael Haaren are highly qualified individuals who have done some amazing analysis on this fast growing segment of the job market. They have done the research and have included many up to the minute reviews of legitimate work at home/telecommute companies. This book is so very well organized. It takes you through the steps to determine if you are really ready to take on the challenge and rewards of working from home. This book is a great resource for the new job seeker as well as the seasoned professional looking for inspiration and guidance as they consider the logistics of working from home. I would recommend this for everyone.

If you’re looking to work at home, this is the book to get. i was lucky enough to win this book from a drawing. Not only is it well-written, it has valuable information to steer you in the right direction for finding a work at home job. Christine Durst and Michael Haaren are well-known for providing valuable information for spotting scams. They have a wonderful website with the same valuable information and more. The book tells you what to look for, and it also provides the legitimate work at home websites. They are also well-known for appearing on ABC News, 20/20 and CNN and alerting the public about scams. For years, they’ve helped alert the public and inform us that there are legitimate home based jobs out there. And now they have a book as well. They deserve a thumbs up for teaming up with so many other forces to make it all possible!

    I recommend this book completely!
